Celebrate heritage and creativity in the stunning scenery of Murrurundi

The Murrurundi Community has come together to produce the second Murrurundi Festival.
This vibrant community is partnering with Upper Hunter Shire Council, Arts Upper Hunter, Destination NSW, and Murrurundi Arts & Crafts Council to bring an exciting event to the Upper Hunter.




A Little Bit of Blue performed by Jenny Ellis of Little Wing Puppets
An Interactive Detective Story, told with Puppetry, where the Kids Help Solve the Case!
As well as unravelling a mystery, it involves learning about the unique habits of an extraordinary Australian animal, the Satin Bowerbird, and their fascination for the colour blue. It is a fun frolicking mix of Detective Noir, slapstick, with some interesting learning discoveries along the way.

Recognisably Murrurundi is a new Art Prize open to all artists, where the subject matter must depict a recognisable landscape from the Murrurundi District.
This event is proudly sponsored by Destination Murrurundi.

Inspired by Belgian artists Christo & Jeanne-Claude, local artist Peter Morris will wrap key landmarks, fences, and bridges in calico in an exploration of the stories behind objects we usually don’t notice in Murrurundi.

Duo Bosco is a classical guitar duo formed by Murilo Tanouye and Joseph Littlefield, who first met while studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Both musicians share a background in rigorous classical training paired with wide-ranging musical influences. The Duo is known for its refined interpretations of classical repertoire, including complete transcriptions of J.S. Bach’s Two- and Three-Part Inventions arranged for two guitars. Their programs often blend Baroque works with contemporary compositions and Brazilian-inspired pieces, reflecting Tanouye’s musical roots.

The popular Fairy Picnic returns to Paradise Park in Murrurundi.

The Mini Art Gallery Project is another highlight of the Murrurundi Festival - Art in the Landscape.
The Project is to re-purpose doll houses as Mini Art Galleries. The Galleries will be feature exhibitions of mini canvases and sculptures.

The winning paintings from the Norvill Art Prize will be together on exhibition for the first time in many years.
The Norvill Art Prize, which was a biannual competition, commenced in 2000 and ran until 2014. Peter Norvill was the patron of the Norvill Art Prize and the Prize was administered by Murrurundi Arts & Crafts Council.
The collection is a must see!.
